Bulgaria’s issues regarding the influx of Syrian refugees, EU’s enlargement towards the Western Balkans and Macedonia’s EU accession bid will be main items on the agenda at the visit of Bulgarian Foreign minister Kristian Vigenin to Brussels.

During his call at Brussels,Vigenin will primarily talk with the European Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva outlining the issues Bulgaria faces on account of increased number of incoming Syrian refugees and asking for additional assistance, Bulgarian National Radio reports.

“The EU Asylum and Migration fund may increase financial aid provided for Bulgaria for the next seven years as the sums envisaged are insufficient in terms of the new conditions” Vigenin stated, according to Bulgarian media.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister will insist on good-neighbor agreement with Macedonia – a necessary condition for Bulgaria to concur with the start of the negotiations on Macedonia’s accession to the EU.
