Bulgarian Economy and Energy Minister Dragomir Stoynev opened Monday the 69th edition of the International Technical Fair in Plovdiv.

Speaking at the opening of the event, Stoynev, as cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA), made clear that the fair brought together over 1000 companies from 41 countries, including first-time participant India.

He argued that for its first 100 days in office, Bulgaria's socialist-led coalition government had fulfilled two long-term commitments, including economizing foreign relations and enhancing the business environment.

He claimed that Bulgaria had to pay heightened attention to its economic partners from the EU, strategic trans-Atlantic partners like the USA and fast-developing east-Asian economies like India, China, and Vietnam.

Stoynev also emphasized the importance of devoting special attention to traditional economic partners from the Middle East, North Africa, neighboring Turkey, and the Russian Federation.

He announced that the government intended to support forums aimed at boosting trade and attracting investments, especially in the sphere of innovations and industrial modernization.

In 2012, a total of 1235 exhibitors from 44 countries took part in the International Technical Fair in Bulgaria's southern city of Plovdiv.

The 69th edition of the expo includes ten specialized expos which bring together companies from 87 industries, , including Aquatech (water management and technologies), Eltech (electronics and electrotechnology), Infotech (informational technology) Intermin (mining industry) Stroytech (construction materials, machines and technologies) and a car showroom.

Bulgarian and foreign companies will present around 70 innovative projects, of which ten global and ten European.

The 69th edition of the expo includes 100 new companies, 50 have returned after short interruption, and traditional participants have increased floor areas.
