The 'Datebook' of Bulgaria's No-Confidence Vote

The latest quorum melodrama in the Parliament raised many eyebrows, with Bulgarians wondering if they can trust at all elected representatives.

For three days now, GERB's lawmakers refuse to register, and ATAKA MPs are missing over a visit to Brussels.

The frequent lack of quorum in key debates not only blocks the parliament's work, but exposes the MPs' disturbing lack of professionalism, responsibility and their disrespect for voters.

The Parliament is not a travel agency securing MPs' trips to various political gatherings; it is supposed to be a place of important decision-making.

It is not a resort either, where lawmakers relax and read the morning paper; it is supposed to be a place for debate.

In everyday live, can an employee leave work because colleagues did not show up or someone has been unpleasant?

Top politicians are throwing silly jokes at each other from the parliamentary tribune.

Sergey Stanishev compared GERB with a "gentleman afraid to go on a date with a lady." Borisov replied: "Yep, Stanishev must be the lady, of course we don't want to take her out to dinner."

More no-confidence votes loom, the irresponsible attitude stays. The "ladies and gentlemen" keep doing as they please...
