Sofia University Celebrates 125th Anniversary

Bulgaria's oldest university, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, celebrates its 125^th anniversary on Friday.

The opening of the academic year will be coupled with a festive march of students and professors through the capital's central boulevards.

“In these turbulent times of financial and social crisis, our priority must be to remind that the core of a modern and prosperous society is education”, stated the rector of the university Ivan Ilchev.

Representatives of some of the world's most prestigious universities will attend the celebrations.
