Bulgarian football champions Ludogorets started their Europa League group campaign with a sensational 2-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the Philips Stadion.

After a 0:0 first half, in the second half, on the hour mark, the Bulgarian side punished PSV, when Jeroen Zoet raced off his line, his clearance only found Roman Besjak, with the forward chipping the ball over the keeper into the empty net.

The home side slumped to a 0:2 defeat as Dutchman Virgil Misidjan shot against the post when free inside the box, but was on end to tap in the rebound.

Ludogorets left a mark in Europe's second most prestigious club tournament after falling out of the qualifying rounds for the Champions League to Swiss champions FC Basel.

The other two teams in this Group B are Croatian Dinamo Zagreb and Ukranian Chernomorets Odessa.

All teams are scheduled to play against each other two times, with the top 2 sides in the final table advancing to the eliminatory phase.

The Bulgarian side went into Thursday's match on a high form, after defeating PFC Levski Sofia 2-0 away on the weekend. They currently sit top of the Bulgarian championship after 8 rounds.

PSV sought to bounce back from 3 consecutive matches without a win in their domestic league. Manager Phillip Cocu however was not able to use captain Georginio Wijnaldum due to injury.
