Head of Bulgarian Construction Control Agency Dismissed

The head of National Construction Control Directorate Milka Gecheva was removed from office on Tuesday , Lilyana Pavlova, a former minister of Regional Development, has announced.

Speaking to the Bulgarian National Television on Wednesday , Pavlova stated that newly formed Ministry of Investment planning had initiated Gecheva’s dismissal,  releasing the post for their nominee.

Pavlova was quoted saying Gecheva has been an excellent specialist in the field, who managed to restrain a number of projects planning illegal construction of properties on State lands-the campaign Koral, the beach of Irakli, Kamchiya sands in Nessebar, the park in Strandzha Mountain, among others.

The person behind these projects is the new minister of Investment planning, according to the former regional development minister.

Gecheva was appointed at the post of a head of the State Construction Control Agency in 2010, replacing Ivan Simidchiev .who was dismissed upon evidence he had allowed illegal construction of 45 properties on State lands.

Milka Gecheva worked as Director of the Construction Department of the Agency – the office responsible for the issuing of the so-called Act 16 allowing the use of a particular building.
