Controversial Bulgarian former TV7 director and host Nikolay Barekov, now officially politician, revealed Monday two of his new ideas for reform.

The first one is reinstating mandatory army draft on education basis.

"This may be even called educational service. People who lack basic education, will serve one year, will come out of military barracks with vocational education. For people with college degrees, the draft can be 3-6 months long," says he in an interview for the Bulgarian 24 Chassa (24 Hours) daily.

Barekov added this idea of studying until noon and working in the afternoon has been introduced during the rule of the Agrarian Union of Prime Minister Alexander Stamboliyski from 1919 until 1923 and his own grand-fathers were among Stamboliyski's followers.

His second proposal is to launch protectionist policies in underdeveloped Bulgarian regions such as the Northwest, the Strandzha and the Rhodoppe Mountains, with lower taxes and other incentives (lower amount to purchase a home or to rent one) for young families who would move there.

The former journalist stressed his project Bulgaria without Censorship was not political, but rather a civil platform dedicated to people outside Sofia.

He invited all elected mayors regardless of party affiliation to join his effort to help in solving concrete problems in different regions.

Barekov, however, did not rule out running at the next general elections, and even winning, stressing they must be organized before the end of the term of the current "morally-depleted" Socialist-led government.

He explained early polls must happen next year, because immediate ones will bring back to power the discredited Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, of former Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, on the crutches of the recently-established right-leaning Reformist Block.
