2 Light Quakes Registered in Southern Bulgaria

A light earthquake with a magnitude of 2.3 on the Richter scale was registered in the southern Bulgarian city of Kardzhali early Sunday morning.

The earthquake occurred at 2:55 am EET, the European Seismology Center reported.

The epicenter of the tremor was 28 km northwest of Kardzhali, 177 km southeast of the capital Sofia, at a depth of 1 km.

Another tremor has been registered Sunday evening at 8:35 pm.

It had a magnitude of 2.4 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was 60 km southeast of the city of Blagoevgrad, and 16 km northwest of the village of Garmen at a depth of 12 km.

There are no reported injuries and damages.
