The Bulgarian capital Sofia is hosting over the weekend an international feline show, held at the upscale "Kempinski Zografski" hotel.

Over 100 cats of 40 breeds will be shown on September 14 and 15, organizers from the Bulgarian Association Elite Cats announced.

Maine Coon cats will be among the most attractive participants. This is officially the biggest feline breed in the world as these cats' weight can reach 15 kg.

Breeds never seen in Bulgaria will take part in the contest part of the show, but organizers are still keeping them secret.

In addition to Bulgaria, there will be guest cats from France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Russia, the Ukraine, Malta and the Czech Republic among others. Their beauty and skills will be assessed by an international panel of 8 judges.

The agenda also includes a parallel education campaign about feline health and on the need to vaccinate cats.

The exhibit has a charitable cause and is dedicated to the Day of Sofia under the patronage of the Sofia City Hall. The funds raised will be donated to the children unit of the National Cardiac Hospital.
