US President Barack Obama has stated that he had not yet made a decision on whether to order a military strike against Syria.

Speaking in an interview on PBS' NewsHour following his address to mark the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Martin Luther King's speech "I have a Dream," Obama explained that he had "no interest" in an open-ended conflict and a possible strike would be short.

He did, however, say the US government has concluded that Bashar Al-assad's regime has deployed chemical weapons.

"I have not made a decision. I have gotten options from our military, had extensive discussions with my national security team," the President told the TV host.

Obama explained the Syrian regime's alleged use of chemical weapons would factor into his decision for military intervention, warning the Assad regime should be held accountable.
