Warplanes and military transporters have been spotted arriving at Britain's Akrotiri airbase in Cyprus, according to the British The Guardian.

Two civil aviation pilots, flying to Larnaca every day, told the British media that they have noticed C-130 planes near the airbase, which is located less than 100 miles from the Syrian coast.

Their account is interpreted as a sign of preparations for a military strike against Assad's regime in Syria. Cyprus is likely to be a hub of the air campaign.

Bashar al-Assad armed forces were accused of carrying out the chemical weapons attack last Wednesday that killed many hundreds in eastern Damascus.
