Bulgaria's Pulev Faceoff with Klitschko Might Be Put on Hold

The upcoming likely faceoff between Bulgarian professional boxer Kubrat Pulev and top rival Wladimir Klitschko from the Ukraine might be postponed beyond March 2014.

The managers of the Ukrainian boxer are making attempts to delay his match with Pulev, giving priority to the one with Russian star professional boxer Alexander Povetkin on October 5. They want to provide Klitschko enough time to recover and rest after the tough battle against the Russian.

It is also highly possible that Klitschko will compete against English champion David Haye prior to the faceoff with the Bulgarian.

Pulev's managers have already said that they will try to fix the date of the match for the IBF title with Klitschko no later than March next year.

"Pulev not fighting for nearly one year is an unacceptable situation for us," his manager, German Hagen Doering, says.

After defeating America's number one professional boxer, Tony Tompson, Kubrat aka the Big Cobra was welcomed in Bulgaria as a real champ, awaited by many, including his girlfriend Andrea, who is a pop folk diva and celebrity in Bulgaria.

"I am looking at the rankings and I can't believe it. Wladimir Klitschko is first, his brother – second, and I am third. I achieved this with hard work, luck and God's help. I want the World title, I want to bring it to Bulgaria," said Pulev, as cited by Bulgarian "24 Chassa" (24 Hours) daily.

Early May, Kubrat Pulev topped IBF's rankings in the heavyweight division.

He is currently IBF International Heavyweight champion (2011) and European Boxing Union heavyweight champion (2012).

Pulev was awarded the prize of Bulgarian athlete of the year for 2012.
