The Bulgarian labor unions have alerted Wednesday about the Health Ministry planning 10% layoffs in State hospitals.

According to the Confederation of Independent Syndicates in Bulgaria, KNSB, Health Minister Tanya Andreeva, has already sent a letter asking all public hospitals to cut staff by 10%.

KNSB complain the Minister never reached an agreement for the above with them and threaten mass protests and strikes in case the decision is not revoked immediatly.

Earlier in the day, Andreeva, speaking before Nova TV, explained that the hospitals' debt could be attributed mainly to inadequate financing and she was seeking ways to improve it.

Andreeva says that the actions of the Cabinet of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, of former Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, and his Deputy, Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov, have led to a blockage of the healthcare system.
