Former Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov has been officially registered as football player with the Bulgarian Football Union.

Borisov is a player for the professional B-division team Vitosha Bistritsa, known also as "the Tiger."

The former karate professional and avid tennis lover had received a warning to abstain from sports after a string of hypertension crisis following his February 2012.

But now doctors have confirmed his health has been restored to allow him to play football.

The Bulgarian Football Union has said that Borisov will have to go under additional health checks before being allowed to start playing.
