Egyptian security forces have entered the Al Fath mosque in Cairo's Ramses Sq, where supporters of ousted president Mohammed Morsi have sought refuge.

The two sides are negotiating a safe retreat of the Morsi supporters.

They barrickaded themselves in the mosque after clashes overnight once again turned deadly, with about 100 people feared killed.

Army officers have broken into the mosque in the morning and started to talk to the protesters, as shown by Egyptian news outlets.

The number of protesters hidden in the Muslim temple is estimated at around 1,000.
