The directors of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) units in the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Burgas and Varna have decided to resign after talks with the Chief Executive of the NRA, Boyko Atanasov.

"After talks with the Executive Director of the NRA, the heads of the Territorial Directorates of the NRA in Burgas and Varna, Rumen Sharpov and Svetlan Petkov, respectively, decided to terminate their employment relationships with the NRA as of August 12, 2013," says a media statement published on the website of the NRA.

Until competitions for the vacancies are organized, the two NRA units will be headed by their Deputy Directors, Stefan Ilchev (Burgas) and Toshko Yanev (Varna).

Meanwhile, dnevnik.bg cites Bulgarian Finance Minister Petar Chobanov as saying in a Wednesday interview for Trud daily that he does not plan changes at the NRA except for the creation of a new post, Deputy Director, who would be put in charge of collection.

Chobanov is also quoted as saying that he trusts NRA head Boyko Atanasov.

According to reports of Sega daily, five heads of major Customs Agency units were demoted one week ago.

The directors of the Customs Agency units in Varna (Maya Kolarova), Svilengrad (Todor Karaivanov), Ruse (Veselin Georgiev), Plovdiv (Vasil Dandarov), and Southwestern Region (Tsvetozar Neshev) were shifted to other posts, and the bodies are to be headed by their Deputy Directors until the organization of competitions for the vacancies.

The reshuffle at the five units of the customs authority was explained with attempts to optimize their operations.
