Bulgaria’s Dimitrov Defeats 13th Seed Almagro in Cincinnati

Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov clinched a 7-6(3), 6-4 victory over 13th seed Nicolas Almagro Monday in the first round of the Western & Southern Open.

Dimitrov, who was clearly the more aggressive player, broke Almagro twice to claim his 27th win of the season in 87 minutes.

He will face next a second-round clash with world No. 185 Brian Baker, who won his first tour-level match since January as he defeated Denis Istomin, 7-5, 6-3 in 80 minutes.
