The Bulgarian government will work towards making more funds available to local authorities, stated PM Plamen Oresharski.

Monday he, together with cabinet ministers, met representatives of regional authorities in Bulgaria's south-western city of Blagoevgrad.

"In the framework of a broader financial decentralization, we will take care to ensure better financial oportunities for municipalities," said Oresharski.

The PM added that until the start of the budgeting procedure for 2014, he will make a string of trips in different regions of the country.

"Those meetings are important, in order to learn local issues first hand," commented he.

As a trace of June and July anti-cabinet protests, which of late have dwindled, 20 people assembled in front of the office of the Blagoevgrad regional administration, shouting "Resign!"
