The Bulgarian government is hard at work to develop operational programes for the EU's 2014-20 programing period, assured Bulgarian Vice-PM and Minister of Justice Zinaida Zlatanova.

"We are hard at work to ensure that there are no areas for which there is no access to funding, no so-called "white fields," said Zlatanova after a technical meeting Friday.

She explained that this refers both to policy areas and to regions within Bulgaria.

The minister explained that the Ministry of Regional Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Association of Municialities are working for to ensure the access of all cities and towns to EU funds.

She added that ministries and agencies are working in close cooperation with businesses and representatives of civil society.

"The preparation of operational programs will retain its tempo, even though that means working in August," said Zlatanova.

The minister revealed that the government hopes that the draft version of the partnership agreement will be ready and handed to the European Commission by the end of August.

Bulgarian Vice-PM and Justice Minister Zinaida Zlatanova is also in charge of the use of EU funds; in the past, she served as European Commission representative to Bulgaria.
