The Bulgrian man and Italian woman found killed by gun wounds in a forest in Tuscany are believed to have committed a double suicide, according to police authorities.

Police have found notes and a video from the two in a nearby car which explain the motives behind the drastic step taken, writes Il Tirreno.

Prior to that, there were conflicting reports about who was the one who killed the other and then went on to shoot himself.

From the suicide notes discovered, it appears that the man shot the woman at her behest and then went on to commit suicide, as was agreed between them beforehand.

The reasons given refer to "a lasting existential dissatisfaction" as well as to an "illness suffered by the man."

Both were 49 years old, with the Bulgarian working in seaside Livorno, and the Italian - in Pontedera near Pisa.

The dead bodies of the two, with a hand gun lying nearby, were discovered overnight in a forest near Arezzo in Tuscany.

The two appeared to have perished some days ago, said the police. They were last seen leaving a hotel in the area Monday.
