Bulgarian Jews in Israel have expressed their support for the ongoing anti-government protesters in Bulgaria, demanding the resignation of the Socialist-led cabinet of Plamen Oresharski.

A protest declaration and a list of signatures against the Bulgarian government will be submitted in the Bulgarian Embassy in the Israeli city Tel Aviv, announced the Bulgarian news agency CROSS.

Flags and posters signed with “We are with you” and “Resignation for Oresharski” were waved on the square by the protesting Bulgarian Jews in Israel. The protesting groups drunk the now-traditional for Bulgaria anti-government “protest coffee” and pledged to meet regularly to protest again together, was reported.

The protest was organized in the Israeli neighborhood Iafo, a center for Bulgarians in Israel, on the Dimitar Peshev square.

The protest attracted the attention of both the residents of Tel Aviv and the Israeli media.

The series of the record-breaking relentless anti-government protests in Bulgaria was triggered by the scandalous appointment of a murky politician and businessman to lead the State Agency for National Security (DANS) back in June.

Although the appointment was revoked, the people went on to demand that the Cabinet resign collectively over ties with oligarchs.

The government, however, is firm that it will not step down, saying it has important tasks to accomplish.
