Bulgaria's National Center for Study of Public Opinion (NCIOM) will be closed, according to the Speaker of the Parliament, Mihail Mikov.

In an interview for the Bulgarian Trud (Labor) daily, Mikov says NCIOM is no longer needed in and by the Parliament, as the country now has a large number of private polling agencies.

He explained the General Assembly rather requires a unit to assess effects of new legislation and issue warnings when it does not function as expected.

Mikov further voices the opinion that the Lawmaking Council at the Parliament, which was closed during its previous term, and the internship program must be reinstated.
