Bulgaria's Energy Watchdog Proposes Average 5% Decrease in Power Rates

Bulgaria's State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) has proposed a decrease in electricity prices by an average 5% as of the beginning of August.

The proposal of DKEVR is for a 4.4% price decrease in electricity prices of power distributor CEZ, while customers of power distributor EVN will pay 4.1% less, and clients of Energo Pro will see their bills decrease by 4.5%.

Night time tariffs will also be reduced as follows: by slightly over 6% for customers of power distributor CEZ, by nearly 7% for customers of EVN, by 3.5% for customers of Energo Pro.

The final decision on the new electricity prices is to be made by the end of the month after a public discussion and the tariffs are to enter into force on August 1.
