Bulgaria's former Chief Secretary of the Interior, Kalin Georgiev, has been hired as Security Chief of the Bulgarian-American Credit Bank, BACB.

Tsvetelina Borislavova is the Chair of the Control Board of the bank and a shareholder.

Borislavova is a former live-in girlfriend of Boyko Borisov, Bulgaria's former Prime Minister and leader of the center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB.

Georgiev has firmly rejected speculations he has gotten the post as a reward for being loyal to Borisov and GERB. He says he has never been a party member.

The ex-police chief declined giving details about how and by whom he had been invited to work for BACB and recommended to those who wish to know the answer to turn to Borislavova. He informed he was at the post since the beginning of July.

The Directorate under Georgiev is assigned the task of providing full activities for bank security.

Georgiev left the Interior Ministry after Tsvetlin Yovchev became the new Interior Minister in the Socialist-endorsed Cabinet of Prime Minister, Plamen Oresharski.

He said then that his act was not spontaneous, and he had considered the move for a while, but had postponed it over certain commitments he had to fulfill.

Georgiev also wrote an emotional farewell letter to colleagues, mentioning personal reasons for the decision.

He has been Chief Secretary of the Interior since 2009.

In several TV interviews at the time, Georgiev spoke highly of Borisov, who is also a former Chief Secretary of the Interior, saying he was his best role model.
