Bulgaria Declares Code Yellow over Sweltering Heat

Code yellow for potentially dangerous weather has been declared Sunday over much of the territory of Bulgaria due to exceptionally hot weather.

The warning covers all of Bulgaria's 27 regions, except Sofia City, Sofia, Pernik, Smolyan, Kardzhali, Burgas and Varna.

Temperatures in most of the lowlands of the country are expected to reach 35-38 degrees Celsius, warned the national weather service.

People are cautioned to not go out around noon and in the afteroon, when possible.

Temperature records are expected Sunday; Saturday 7 were broken in Bulgaria and one equalled.

Precipitation and a lowering of temperatures is expected to set in starting the coming week.
