Those dissatisfied with the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's leadership in Turkey continue their demonstrations in the bigger cities, despite government strict measures by the use of new, unusual forms of protest.

Nova TV reported that a young man stood still and speechless on "Taksim" Square in Istanbul for several hours. Soon, about 100 people gathered and followed his example of standing without moving and talking. However, police intervened and dispersed the group and the young man was again standing alone on "Taksim" square.

A woman followed the example of the standing man in the capital Ankara. She stood still at the place where a police grenade injured a young man who later died of his wounds in a hospital.

The initiative was also launched in the third largest city in the country, Izmir, "Focus" agency reported.

A big number of protesters were standing still and silent on "Gyundoudu" square in Izmir.  Thus, they expressed their support to the first "standing man" from Istanbul, Erdem Gunduz.

The "standing people" on "Gyundoudu" square were not even responding to other protesters' questions and their number increased with every passing hour.

Meanwhile the Turkish government strengthened the measures against the protesters.

Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Ar?nc said that if necessary, Turkey can deploy parts of the military forces to support the suppression of anti-government protests in the country.
