A bridge used for traffic has collapsed in Bulgaria's northern city of Lovech over the high waters of the Ossam river.

The bridge crumbled Friday night. Miraculously, due to the late hour, there are no fatalities and injuries. The Mayor of the City and his team have immediately arrived at the site and established that a portion of the bridge was missing.

The bridge is located in the city's industrial zone and connects it to nearby villages. The natural gas and water supply have been cut due to the collapse.

The area is closed for automobile traffic and pedestrians and is sealed by metal fences. Security guards have been deployed as well.

There are detour routes for ambulances, fire trucks and police cruisers.

The State Agency Road Infrastructure has been notified and inspectors are to visit the scene shortly.
