Erdogan's Meeting with Taksim Protesters Starts

World | June 12, 2013, Wednesday // 19:38|  views

The first meeting between Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan and representatives of protesters against his government has started Wednesday evening in Istanbul.

The meeting, which is closed to the media, is attended by many known public figures.

It is also attended by Interior Minister Muammet Guler, Minister of Culture Omer Celik, and Minister of Environment and Civil Construction Erdogan Bayraktar.

Reports at the Occupy Gezi page on Facebook claim that some of the people at the meeting with the Turkish PM and ministers have nothing to do with the Taksim protests that have gripped many cities across the country since end-May.
