Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov has filed an official request for the lifting of Movement for Rights and Freedom MP Petar Angelov's immunity against prosecution.
This is the second request for relinquishment of MP immunity for Bulgaria's recently elected 42nd Parliament.
Last week, former ruling party GERB vice-chair and ex Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov gave up his immunity, after prosecution announced intentions to charge him with malfeasance having to do with the alleged widespread illegal wiretapping activities of Bulgaria's police under Tsvetanov's guidance, 2009-13.
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms supports Bulgaria's current cabinet, chaired by PM Plamen Oresharski, which was formed under the mandate of the Bulgarian Socialist Party.
The Movement is also known to be supported by many people for Bulgaria's large ethnic Turkish minority.
