Protesters in Bulgarian Capital Re-Block Parliament

The anti-government protest rally that marched in the center of Bulgarian capital Sofia Sunday has returned to the square in front of Parliament.

Protesters, numbering around 2,000, have blocked traffic and are chanting resignation calls for the newly elected cabinet of PM Plamen Oresharski.

The rally has been organized on Facebook, with parallel marches held in Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv and Blagoevgrad.

Protesters are also chanting slogans against the Bulgarian Socialist Party, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, and nationalist Ataka party.

The march they staged in Sofia included stops in front of the headquarters of the three parties, which were booed.

Wednesday the Oresharski cabinet was elected with the votes of Socialist and MRF MPs, with Ataka accused of helping it pass though by ensuring a quorum.

Protesters have expressed dissatisfaction with the way May 12 snap parliamentary elections have represented the voters' will.

24% of the 51% Bulgarians who went to the polls voted for parties that fell short of the 4% election threshold.

Protesters have also claimed that the Oresharski cabinet has been composed to serve the private interests of shady business structures.

Featured in their slogans was the recently coined pun 'Oligarski' for the Bulgarian PM's name.

Earlier Sunday, another rally, organized by small parties National Front for the Salvation of Bulgaria and Order, Law and Justice (RZS) parties, was held in front of Parliament.
