Tractor trailers waiting to leave Bulgaria have formed a 4-km-long line on the Bulgarian side of the Kapitan Andreevo-Kapakule border crossing point between Bulgaria and Turkey Thursday evening.

Lora Lyubenova, spokeswoman for the Border Police Main Directorate, has told the FOCUS News Agency that the waiting trucks will be processed by Friday morning when traffic is also expected to get back to normal.

The backlog, however, can grow if there are more trucks waiting at parking lots inside the country.

According to the Border Police it is not necessary to redirect traffic to the Lessovo border checkpoint.

Earlier Thursday, a thorn optical fiber cable disrupted the customs systems and the processing of freight trucks at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint for three hours.

Emergency teams have repaired the damage and the system was restored at 5 pm.
