Bulgarian President, Rosen Plevneliev, has given high marks to Chief Prosecutor, Sotir Tsatsarov, saying it was great to have such active, competent and ambitious man at the post.

Speaking for journalists Thursday, he, however, stressed it would be even better, if the prosecution as a whole also turns active, competent, and well-performing so that the nation begins to see it as an institution administering justice.

"I also hope that young and competent people, who have knowledge and skills, would join the Interior Ministry and all other institutions. However, what is even more important is for the institutions to be functional; to do their job," said Plevneliev.

He reminded to political parties that they have pledged transparency and civil control.

"We want to see this promise kept and a different approach – an integral approach in the security sector. Civil society, experts, institutions, the overall reform in the security sector must be given a chance. This would be so worthy and historic that it is the wish I extend to the new government. The previous ones did not manage to do it. I hope this one will. I hope Bulgaria will advance its institutional culture," the President stated.

The President hosted Thursday the traditional high-school prom for youth living in orphanages.
