Bulgaria's top rated male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov added another record to his career in qualifying for the first time for round three of the Grand Slam in the French Open Roland Garros.
Dimitrov easily prevailed over France's Lucas Pouille with 6:1, 7:6(4), 6:1. The match was stopped twice over inclement weather and heavy rain in Paris.
The win also made him the first Bulgarian to ever reach Roland Garros' round three. There he will face either Novak Djokovic (Serbia) or Guido Pella (Argentina).
The 22-year-old Bulgarian from the southern city of Haskovo, dubbed "Baby Federer," is the latest flame of Maria Sharapova but has also attracted attention because of his impressive rise in the world rankings, from 95 a year ago to 28 before the French Open this week.
On May 8, Dimitrov scored a shock victory over World Number One Djokovic in Madrid.
