Bulgarian EU Commissioner Congratulates New PM

Bulgarian EU Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva has congratulated newly-elected Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski and wished him luck during his term in office.

"In this tough period Bulgaria needs responsible and competent people like you and your colleagues in the new government," the EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response says in a letter to Oresharski, according to the press office of the Bulgarian government.

Georgieva expresses firm belief that the new Prime Minister will succeed in promoting the establishment of constructive dialogue which Bulgarian citizens need.

She is also positive that Oresharski will contribute to the efforts to restore Bulgarians' confidence in the ability of institutions to respond to their needs and worries.

"I believe that the beneficial interaction between Bulgarian and European institutions will continue to develop in the interest of the prosperity of Bulgaria and Europe," Georgieva says.

She also assures Oresharski that she and her team will do everything possible in their power to make sure that this interaction is a fact.

Bulgaria's new government headed by Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski took an oath of office on Wednesday.
