Hannes Swoboda, Chairman of the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament is convinced the new Bulgarian Cabinet of Prime Minister, Plamen Oresharski, would set the country on the right path.

Swoboda congratulated Oresharski and the new government, stressing he was glad the Socialists took over the rule of the country as they were going to turn Bulgaria into a strong and clear voice in Europe.

The new Bulgarian Cabinet with the mandate of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, and former Finance Minister, Plamen Oresharski, as Prime Minister, was approved in the Parliament and took the oath of office Wednesday.

In his statement, Swoboda notes the previous government of the center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, has disappointed people with its ineffective economic policies, inadequate and insufficient social measures, and illegal activities such as unauthorized wiretappings, the BSP press center informs Thursday.

"Bulgaria needs sensible and effective reforms - creating new jobs and giving people opportunities to advance and develop business initiatives," the statement reads.

Swoboda further congratulated Socialist MEP, Kristian Vigenin, for his appointment as Bulgaria's Foreign Affairs Minister in the Cabinet Oresharski.
