Bulgaria's Chief Secretary of the Interior, Kalin Georgiev, has declared his intention to resign, according to a report.

However, President Rosen Plevneliev has asked to official to remain at his post until a new government is formed, the Pressa daily informs.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party, which is expected to announce the country’s new Cabinet next week, said that Georgiev would be replaced.

Georgiev has been Chief Secretary of the Interior since 2009.

Meanwhile, reports have also emerged that Bulgarian Customs Agency head Vanyo Tanov has filed his resignation. The reports are yet to be verified.
