The "Made in Bulgaria" union has demanded the establishment of a Ministry of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Entrepreneurship.

The proposal is presented in an appeal to of Bulgaria's newly formed 42nd National Assembly.

The Union, as cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA), argues that the condition of small and medium-sized businesses necessitates the establishment of a new ministry.

According to the Union, the step will prove that the support for small businesses is a state-level policy.

Moreover, the organization proposes the establishment of a separate Ministry of Tourism and an Energy Committee.

Other proposals of the "Made in Bulgaria" union include the adoption of a one-year deadline for submission, approval and payment under EU-funded projects of SMEs and the elimination of subsidies for temporary jobs and the redirection of resources to businesses that will create permanent employment.

The "Made in Bulgaria" union also demands the swift adoption of amendments to the Law on protection of competition and staff reshuffles at the Commission for Protection of Competition (KZK), and the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency.

In its letter to Parliament the Union also calls on the health inspectorate and the customs authority to exercise strict control over imports of food and non-food products of the major retailers.
