Depeche Mode Postpone Istanbul Concert over Bulgarian Truck Blockade

Depeche Mode have postponed their concert in Istanbul on Friday due to a truck blockade staged by Bulgarian protesters.

With their equipment stuck in customs at the border, unable to cross due to the Bulgarian trucking blockade, the band has canceled tonight’s concert.

“We regret to inform ticket holders for tonight’s show in Istanbul at K???k?iftlik Park that, due to circumstances beyond the control of Depeche Mode and Purple Concerts, tonight’s show will not be taking place. The Bulgarian trucking blockade at the Bulgaria-Turkey border has prevented Depeche Mode’s production trucks from crossing the border into Turkey, forcing this situation,” the band has said on Facebook.

"Depeche Mode and Purple Concerts are currently working to reschedule tonight’s show to later a later date in the Depeche Mode tour. Fans are kindly asked to hold on to their tickets and await further details from the band and Purple Concerts on this postponement.”

Bulgarian drivers and truck owners are protesting the hurdles for their business on the other side of the border and unfair competition. They complain from unfounded restrictions such as not allowing into Turkish territory trucks carrying over 500 liters of fuel or making drivers wait at the Turkish border for days.

Turkey has made the commitment to alleviate the regime after actions of Bulgarian Ambassador in Ankara.
