Sofia University Advances in Academic Performance Ranking

The Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" ranks 788th in the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) for 2012/2013 which evaluates the top 2000 higher education institutions in the world.

The Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" is first among the three Bulgarian universities included in the ranking, the other two being the Medical University of Sofia and the University of Chemical Technology & Metallurgy of Sofia.

The three universities are members of the Bulgarian Association of Research Universities established in 2008, according to a media statement of the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".

The ranking uses the following indicators: number of articles, citations, total document, journal impact total, journal citation impact total, and international collaboration.

The University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) Research Laboratory was established at Informatics Institute of Middle East Technical University in 2009 and its annual World Ranking of 2000 Higher Education Institutions have been released since 2010.

In 2010/2011, the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" ranked 854th and in 2011/2012 it moved forward to place 846 in the ranking.

According to the media statement of the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", the six Turkish and the eight Greek universities outpace the Bulgarian representatives due to the better funding they get.
