The robber who burst early Saturday in the home of the leader of the right-wing Democrats for Strong Bulgaria party, DSB, and former Prime Minister, Ivan Kostov, has been armed with a pocket knife.

The information was reported by the Interior Ministry.

The robber threatened Kostov's wife, but she kept her cool and managed to reach the panic button.

The security company team arrived quickly in their patrol car and arrested the man. The only available information is that he is V.G. 36, from the northwestern city of Pleven, and has a criminal record for one theft.

It has also emerged that the robber jumped in Kostov's yard from the fence of the next-door house and entered inside through an open door. He was wearing a mask and brandished a pocket knife.

The investigation in the incident continues.

Earlier Saturday, several media reported the attack and so did Kostov himself on his Facebook page.

No one, including Kostov's family members, has been harmed.

Kostov' home is located in the Sofia suburb of Dragalevtsi.

Bulgaria is holding Sunday, May 12, early general elections.
