Sunday's Israeli air attack on Syria is totally unacceptable, stated Turkey's PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan Tuesday.

Turkey thus joined the Arab League countries and Iran in denouncing the strike, which Syria has interpreted as a "declaration of war."

"There is nothing that can justify this operation," stated Erdogan at a meeting with MP from his AKP party.

According to intelligence reports, Israel targeted what was believed to be Iranian weapons intended for Hezbollah use and stocked in Damascus.

Israel has already taken up defensive measures against a retaliatory strike by Syria.

At the same time, Tuesday Iran's Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Akbar Salehi called on Syria's Arab neighbors to "react" to the Israeli interference.

Salehi commented that Iran does not believe that Israel will strike its nuclear facilities, but is yet prepared for a worst-case scenario.
