Former Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov has argued that the prospects for a resounding victory of center-right party GERB at the May 12 parliamentary elections leave the opponents deeply embittered.

Speaking Thursday in Balchik, Tsvetanov, head of the election headquarters of GERB, declared that things would return to normal after the elections and the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) would have to face its internal problems.

Tsvetanov, as cited by private TV station bTV, claimed that GERB was strong because it had a clear idea of what it had to accomplish.

Bulgaria's former Interior Minister emphasized that GERB would not resort to aggression as a means of communication during the election campaign.

He suggested that Bulgaria would need a stable government after the May 12 elections in order to be able to absorb the total of BGN 25 B in EU funding earmarked for the country during the next programming period.

Tsvetanov noted that Bulgaria's next government and the local authorities had to join forces to improve infrastructure, business and tourism conditions.
