10 Temperature Records Registered in Bulgaria

The mercury has climbed to record highs in 10 Bulgarian cities and towns Saturday, the National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, BAS, reported.

Most of the locations are in northwestern Bulgaria. The temperature has reached 30.6C in the city of Vratsa, 31C – in the city of Montana, 29.6C – in the town of Knezha, 30.6C – in the city of Lovech, 31.8 (the highest) – in the city of Pleven, 30.2C in the town of Svishtov and the city of Silistra, both on the Danube river.

Two records have been set on mountain peaks as well – Murgash, 18.6C and Rozhen, 19.6C.

In the capital Sofia the mercury climbed to 26.9C.

Saturday has been the warmest April day so far.

The maximum temperatures will reach 26C – 31C on Palm Sunday; 27C in Sofia.
