The European Commission has closed infringement proceedings against Bulgaria related to irregularities in the implementation of a project on the territory of the Pirin National Park.
A recent inspection of EU officials showed that the territory of the park was being managed according to the adopted plans, according to a media statement of Bulgaria's Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW).
In the fall of 2008, the EC studied the implementation of projects on the territory of the Pirin National Park and in 2009 Bulgaria was notified about the launch of an infringement procedure over the construction of a four-seat ski lift in the Chalin Valog area and the construction of a facility for the Chalin Valog ski run in 2007.
The inspection by EC representatives in 2011 indicated that the concessionaire had committed violations in the implementation of the project, exceeding the agreed territory, for which the investor was penalized.
