Bulgaria to Receive EU Support for Promoting Eggs on Greek, Romanian Markets

The European Commission has approved a scheme for promoting Bulgarian eggs on Greek and Romanian markets.

The EC approved Thursday 22 programs aimed at promoting agricultural products in the European Union and in third countries, according to the EC press office.

The total budget of the programs, the large majority of which will run for a period of three years, is EUR 71.94 M, of which the EU contributes EUR 35.97 M.

The selected programs cover olive oil, milk and milk products, meat, fresh and processed fruit and vegetables, organic products, eggs, wines and spirits and horticultural products, as well as quality products registered and protected as PDOs (Protected Designations of Origin), PGIs (Protected Geographical Indications) and TSGs (Traditional Speciality Guaranteed).

In Bulgaria's case, the total budget of the 2-year scheme amounts to EUR 1.89 M, of which the EU will contribute EUR 946 000.

The contractor of the two-year program aimed at promoting Bulgarian eggs on Greek and Romanian markets is the Bulgarian Association of Agricultural Producers (BAAP).
