Bozhan Stoyanov and Todor Shopov have been appointed members of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH).

Stoyanov and Shopov will replace former CEO of the Kozloduy NPP Valentin Nikolov and Ilko Zhelyazkov, according to a media statement of the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism (MIET).

Stoyanov was appointed Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism in the caretaker government on March 22, 2013.

Shortly after his appointment, Stoyanov was exposed as a former state security collaborator but vowed to sue the so-called Files Commission, a panel investigating the Communist era secret files, saying that he did not agree with the conclusions of its report.

Shopov is former Deputy CEO of Sofia Airport EAD and member of the Consultative Council of the National Audit Office.

The changes to the Board of Directors of BEH are part of the planned reshuffle at companies with state participation controlled by MIET.

On April 17, Bulgaria's caretaker Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Asen Vasilev said that a wide-scale reshuffle would be implemented in the energy sector to streamline control and the efficiency of the companies.

He noted that the reshuffle was not triggered by personal motives and had been planned as a result of an analysis of the management of state-owned companies in the energy sector.
