Bulgaria's EU Competiveness Official Sacked

Bulgaria's caretaker Economy and Energy Minister, Asen Vassilev, has fired Kiril Geratliev, head of the EU Competitiveness Funds Directorate at the Ministry, according to media reports.

The information comes on the heels of unconfirmed reports that the dismissal was decided at the end of March.

Geratliev’s duties were taken over by Deputy Minister Irena Mladenova.

The Ministry is yet to officially announce the reshuffle and the grounds for it.

According to sources speaking off-the-record, the majority of Geratliev team has been dismissed as well.
