The leader of the European Socialists, Bulgarian Socialists and former Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev, will tie the knot with girlfriend Monika Yanova after the May 12 snap general elections.

The news was reported by the Bulgarian Standard daily, citing own insider sources.

The couple already has a daughter, Daria, and is expecting a son in July. Daria (meaning gift) was born on May 1, 2011, celebrated by the Socialists as Labor Day.

Due to Stanishev's busy schedule over intense election campaigning, wedding details are yet to be discussed. The Socialist leader had initially planned to marry Monika in the spring, but the early elections have forced him to move the date, he admitted in a TV interview.

They couple has first shared their decision with Monika's two other children from a previous marriage to banker Ventsislav Yosifov. They are further quoted saying their focus at the moment is election victory.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, officially launched their election campaign in Sofia's South Park Saturday with 10 000 supporters and followers in attendance.

At the event, in addition to party propaganda, merchants from local party branches competed in serving the best food, wine, and traditional Bulgarian brandy rakiya. There was also a folk concert.
