Serbian Gunman Who Killed 13 Dies from Wounds

Ljubisa Bogdanovic, the Serbian gunman, who shot dead 13 people on Tuesday before shooting himself in the head, has died from his injuries.

The information was reported Thursday by the Belgrade's emergency center.

Bogdanovic, 60, went on a shooting rampage in the Serbian town of Velika Ivanca, about 50km south-east of Belgrade at around 5 am, killing six men, six women and a two-year-old child before attempting to kill himself and his wife.

Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic told reporters that 12 victims died instantly, while one died on the way to the hospital. The victims were mainly relatives and neighbors of the murderer, including Bogdanovic's mother and his 42-year-old son.

Neighbours said Bogdanovic, a war veteran, who fought as a Serb soldier during the 1990s war in Croatia and had a firearms license, lost his job as a laborer last year. He then became a farmer.

The motive for the murders remains unclear, although his wife Javorka and another relative reportedly told police the gunman had a history of domestic violence.

The victims are expected to be buried on Friday as Serbia remains in shock after its worst such bloodbath in 20 years.
