Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev stated on Wednesday that he received calmly the resignation of his Chief of Staff, Tsvetlin Yovchev.

Yovchev announced his resignation on Tuesday, citing “personal projects” that were not compatible with his position in Plevneliev’s administration. He clarified that his projects were not political, but refused to elaborate on them.

Plevneliev told reporters on Wednesday that he “respected” Yovchev’s decision to step down. He announced that he would accept the resignation and wished him luck.

Yovchev, who is a former head of Bulgaria’s National State Security Agency, became the first member of Plevneliev’s administration to resign since the President assumed office in 2012.
